Reclaiming Shilo Snow
by Mary Weber

Trapped on the ice-planet of Delon, gamer girl Sofi and Ambassador Miguel have discovered that nothing is what it seems, including their friends. On a quest to rescue her brother, Shilo, a boy everyone believes is dead, they must now escape and warn Earth of Delon’s designs on humanity. Except the more they unearth of the planet and Sofi’s past, the more they feel themselves unraveling, as each new revelation has Sofi questioning the very existence of reality.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, Sofi’s mom, Inola, is battling a different kind of unraveling: a political one that could cost lives, positions, and a barely-rebuilt society, should they discover the deal made with the Delonese.

But there’s a secret deeper than all that. One locked away inside Sofi and ticking away with the beginnings, endings, and answers to everything. Including how to save humanity.

LM: How did writing Reclaiming Shilo Snow differ from writing The Evaporation of Sofi Snow?

Mary: More than anything, I’d say the difference was just having to write it on a tighter time frame – which meant I had less time to plan out Reclaiming Shilo Snow and think through the twists and turns. Ironically, it made for a faster-paced and character-deep book in the end, so *laughs* what do I know?! Whew! ;)

LM: What has been your favorite part of writing this series so far—world-building, characters, relationships, etc.?

Mary: Ooh definitely the characters and their relationships! Particularly the dynamics between Sofi, Shilo, and their mom. I love exploring people through the eyes of others, and the way our opinions change based upon another’s inside perspective.

LM: Share a fun fact about this book with us!

Mary: *laughs* Well, I have 5 siblings, and they are some of my favorite humans on the planet. Shilo and Sofi’s relationship is definitely based upon the rowdy lot of us. We get together regularly with our families and argue politics, board games, and the best 1 star Amazon product reviews. ♥

LM: Which character from Reclaiming Shilo Snow do you relate to the most and why?

Mary: Definitely Sofi and Shilo’s mom, Inola. As a mom I could relate to her heart, even though she’s somewhat terrible. I think as parents we all make choices that, looking back, we regret. But we don’t let that stop us from loving ourselves and kids enough to continue growing as individuals and making things right.

LM: Give us a little glimpse into Reclaiming Shilo Snow—share one of your favorite quotes or scenes from the book!

Mary: I think my best answer to this is simply – THE LAST 3 CHAPTERS. For reasons. ;)

LM: What do you enjoy doing when you aren't writing/working?

Mary: Spending time with my family. I have a personal conviction that I won’t write books for other’s teens if I’m not intentionally, passionately, raising my own. So we spend a lot of evenings playing games or sitting around the bonfire with family and friends. ♥
