Creatura
by Nely Cab

Isis can control her dreams. Or she could—until recently. The creature in her nightmares has been haunting her for months. As if being dumped wasn’t bad enough, now she dreads going to sleep. She decides to confront the creature and win back some of her peace; only, she finds that he’s not a monster and he’s not a dream.

A sacrifice for love, a shocking discovery and a jealous ex-boyfriend blur the lines between reality and dreams, making it hard to tell who the real monsters are.

Who would’ve known…that sometimes love is lethal?

with Nely Cab

LM: Thank you for answering my questions today, Nely! Can you start by telling us what inspired you to write CREATURA?

Nely: It all started when I was 10 and I dreamed of a boy that would play with me in my dreams. He continued to show up in my dreams, and as I grew older, so did he. I often asked myself who he was and why I kept dreaming of him. Finally, one night, I had a dream where the boy was a man in his thirties, like me. Right before I woke up, I heard one word: David. I knew that had to be his name. It was then that the idea for Creatura started bubbling in my head.

LM: Was there anything particularly difficult about writing CREATURA?

Nely: Plotting it out. I had only written short stories and I decided that Creatura was also going to be a short story, but when my only reader—my sister—was ensnared in the story, I decided it need to be a little longer. Eventually, the story was so long that it became a book.

LM: Entice us into reading CREATURA in five words or less!

Nely: “Careful,” he said, “I’m lethal.”

LM: How do you go about selecting names for your characters?

Nely: I like to Google names, and some I’ve just always liked. Others I make up.

LM: Can you share with us one of your favorite scenes or quotes from CREATURA?

Nely: Alezzander raised his hand and swung it back.

“Alezzander!” Nyx called before he could strike David.

The twins moved between Alezzander and us.

“She’s given me her love,” David said.

“The mange is what she’s given you,” Alezzander sneered.

“There’s no need for that, Father,” Eryx said calmly. “You forget we’re not children anymore. We’re able to make our own decisions—or mistakes—without your permission.”

LM: As a self-published author, do you have any advice for those trying to achieve the same?

Nely: I had to learn this on my own, an editor is as crucial as the cover. Try several editors before you commit to one. Find one whose personality and style you are comfortable with. You and your editor are a team and the manuscript will speak for both of you. So only put your best work out there.

LM: Tell us what you like to do when you aren't writing!

Nely: I like to draw, paint, craft, bake, cook, watch movies, listen to music, have coffee with my friends and chat.

LM: Tell us an odd fact about you, or something people would be surprised to know about you.

Nely: I hate listening to people eat chips. The crunching makes me what to pull out my hair.

LM: Is there anything you'd like to add? Anything you'd like to say to your readers?

Nely: Thank you for taking the time to read this interview and I hope you can visit me on my blog www.nelycab.blogspot.com and check out the entire first chapter of Creatura!

Thank you, Sarah, for being part of this blog tour! x
