Motocross Me
by Cheyanne Young

When Hana Fisher moves to the small town of Mixon, Texas to live with her dad, she dreads having to work at the boring pile of dirt he fondly calls a motocross track. But when she gets there, she finds the rinky-dink dirt bike track from her childhood has grown into the most respected racing track in the state.

Now popular by association, Hana endures the pain and sweat of working in the summer heat in order to fit in with a sport she’s growing to love. She gets a real family, a best friend and not just one, but two of the fastest racers trying to win her heart.

When Hana abuses her status as the track owner’s daughter to help the gorgeous Ryan Russo cheat in the biggest race of the year, she risks more than just losing her job. Every good thing in her life is at stake now- her friends, her dad’s trust, and Ash Carter- the kind-hearted racer who may not be as alluring as Ryan, but is proof that nice guys don’t always finish last.

with Cheyanne Young

LM: The first thing I MUST know is: why motocross as a theme? It's definitely the first time I've seen it in a YA or NA book.

Cheyanne: Motocross Me was the first book I wrote with the intention of publishing. I always heard the advice to "write what you know", and since I grew up on a dirt bike, motocross is what I know. Plus I wanted to write a book with hot boys in it, and in my opinion, motocross guys are the hottest. :)

LM: What was the toughest part of writing Motocross Me?

Cheyanne: Dealing with the love triangle aspect of the plot. I didn't want it to come off as too cliche, which is a big reason why Ryan acts the way he does in the book. I didn't want a Jacob/Edward situation, because in real life, all guys aren't perfect. And sometimes I just really hated writing Ryan, but it had to be done.

LM: Do you listen to music while you write? Any particular song/artist that inspired you while writing this book?

Cheyanne: Nope...I'm weird like that. Many writers use a playlist for writing, but I just can't do it because the music distracts me too much. I do, however, tend to leave the television on as I write and the background noise is soothing.

LM: Can you share with us your favorite quote or scene from the book?

Cheyanne: My favorite scene is the firefly scene between Hana and Ash. It shows Ash's adorable side, and the story he tells her about "wearing" the fireflies is something my dad told me as a kid. I have no idea if it's true or not, but I've always been curious about it. You're going to have to read the book if you want details on that because I don't want to spoil it here. muahaha.

LM: Entice us into reading Motocross Me in five words or less.

Cheyanne: Nice guys DON'T finish last.

LM: Do you see yourself in any of your characters?

Cheyanne: I see myself in Hana because we share a lot of the same insecurities. I also can relate to Molly, and how she's always taking care of everyone, which is kind of embarrassing because she's so matronly and, oh gosh now I feel old.

LM: What do you like to do when you aren't writing?

Cheyanne: I'm a Zumba fitness fanatic, despite being a terrible dancer. I spend too much time with my xbox and nerdy things. I also love being outdoors and in the sun. If I had my way, the entire year would be summer.

LM: If you could meet any person, living or dead, who would it be?

Cheyanne: I'm gonna go all fangirl here and say Norman Reedus.

LM: What is the one thing you can't live without?

Cheyanne: Nail polish. Loads and loads and just hoarder-like piles of nail polish.

LM: Is there anything you'd like to say to your readers and/or potential readers?

Cheyanne: First, a thank you to Sarah for having me on your awesome blog today. My main goal as a writer is to share my stories with people who will enjoy them and it takes an awesome, supporting reader to take a chance on an indie book. So, to all readers and potential readers, thank you so much for giving Motocross Me a chance! You guys & gals rock and are all super attractive!
